But ‘INNOVV’ is derived from ‘Innovate’ so it was only logical that evolution of one or both flagship systems would occur or, something new is in the works. The single channel multi-purpose and very adaptable C5 in two variants and the dual channel K2 systems have been the flagship video products from INNOVV for a couple of years now. INNOVV is currently updating and evolving their powersports/motorcycle focused camera line and the INNOVV K5 (Dash Cam) Dual Channel Powersports System with its 4K front and 1080P rear cameras is the first in a series of pending product updates and new releases hopefully, wBW will be able to do reviews on them all. So, in appreciating the ongoing activities all the changes identified by the INNOVV K5 Team, either implemented or planned for the release version are clearly identified where applicable in the appropriate sections along with a Change Summary Section at the end of this submission. The INNOVV team is also working on developing some specific bracket options that will provide even more adaptation and fitment options regarding the installation of this new dual-channel camera system on motorcycles and other powersport platforms. This is all good, especially regarding new products as it provides an early opportunity to do either a first look or full review for our readers and, offer up the (always) constructive and (always) objective feedback on form, fit, and function to the manufacturer -particularly for those products not yet formally released. And since then the INNOVV Team has been making sure that information regarding hardware and firmware enhancements along with user interface APP updates is passed along. Relatedly, during some spring into summer period email correspondence regarding the ongoing development of the INNOVV ThirdEYE, in having an early or pre-release version of it here undergoing testing (and a pending wBW review), some insight into the next dual channel system under development was provided.Īnd of course, to this professed electronics geek, the only question was – when can I get one to play with? Soon as it turned out and just before mid-October, the anticipated package arrived. WBW has, over the years, reviewed virtually everything marketed by INNOVV and I have been fortunate enough to do many of them, including the original INNOVV K1, its replacement the K2, the single channel C5 system and the Power Hub variants. I've contacted the Dutch INNOVV dealership where the camera originated from on the 10th of september to ask for repair, but they don't reply.Up front, we need to identify that this review is based on a pre-release version of the coming-to-market INNOVV K5 that is identified as a Dash Cam, but in reality, should be called an “Action Cam” as it designed for and is specifically focused on the powersports market. Picture of how the videofiles are stored now: The camera also seems to stop recording when I exit the app (latest version, just updated few days ago) on my Android phone, wich is realy annoying. Note: The setting 1080p/60fps/low bitrate/50Hz setting seemed to produce fast playing video's. I've also updated the camera to firmware H5.C.20230213.V1.1.02 First thing I do is do a time-update before driving, then switch off the phone. The only time the camera worked fine, was out of the box. Since the video can be set to 1080p/60fps/medium bitrate (30MB/s), it can't be the problem (It's a low setting compared to the maximum 4K/30fps setting). I've tried recording at home (low motion image since the camera is at a fixed point, pointing at the tv) and that increases the recording time to about 30 minutes before the overheating problem starts again. Formatted SD-card to Fat32, did a surface test -> no errors. ![]() I've tried switching to the original battery, same problem. I then inspect the camera and it is realy hot. ![]() ![]() Sometimes I can feel the camera vibrating (resetting?) during a trip. I then get small videoclips, then the camera stops working. ![]() Sometimes within minutes (I then changed from 50Hz to 60Hz setting) but always within 30 minutes. I've switched to medium bitrate setting and now the camera overheats. Previously I used the low bitrate setting, which went fine for at least two hours. I use low settings:ġ080p / 60fps / medium bitrate / 60Hz / 5 minute interval clips, using a fairly new Samsung 128GB EVO plus U3 A2 V30 Class 10 MicroSd card and connected to an external large capacity powerbank. I've been using the H5 since late june (first version camera bought in februari 2023).
